The solutions include applications such as customer relationship management, integrated voice recognition, workforce management, and automatic call dialing.
The advantages of software as a license are that you only pay for what you use (times the number of seats), thus lowering the upfront costs; no peripheral equipment, such as a dedicated server, is required; and the solutions tend to be highly scalable.

FileWave, a leading developer of MS and Mac software management tools, has signed a licensing agreement with PRO TECHnology, under which the leading provider of broadcast, communication, security, and storage solutions will be able to distribute FileWave software.

Microsoft and Hoya Corporation, the owners of the Pentax brand, have signed a patent cross-licensing agreement. The deal includes Pentax digital cameras and other products made by both companies. A Microsoft executive commented that such agreements lead to technological innovations for the benefit of the consumer and the IT industry.
The agreement represents an example of Microsoft’s Licensing program, in which companies cane gain access to Microsoft’s intellectual property portfolio.

Four companies in the Greater Toronto Area have been fined for having unlicensed copies of Adobe, Microsoft and Autodesk running on their computers. According to the Business Software Alliance, the companies were fined a total of $95,000. The case demonstrates that even large organizations can unwittingly employ more seats of a software package than they have a license for.
